Blog Series Wins PRSA Award of Merit

A series of blog articles that JT Consulting helped create won an Award of Merit in the 71st Annual Virginia Public Relations Awards competition. The Richmond Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) hosted the related ceremony. Held at the Jefferson Hotel on May 24, the evening was a sparkling mixture of drinks, dinner, conversation – and awards.

Our award resulted from our collaboration with Wireside Communications, an independent PR agency that focuses on high-tech B-to-B communications. Moreover, they derived from Wireside’s longstanding relationship with NTT Communications. The goal of this initiative was to position the client as a leading provider of global enterprise services in the US and influence enterprises’ information and communications technology (ICT) purchasing decisions. It occurred over several steps.

First, we launched a blog on one of the industry’s top publications for CIOs and business technology. After achieving success in that space, we created three additional blogs. Along the way, the Wireside team promoted the content on social media. By the time of the award submission, we had delivered 11 articles across four blogs, along with supporting social media content, garnering nearly 10,000 views and 37,00 LinkedIn impressions.

As a result of the initiative’s moving parts and strategic method, our Award of Merit fell under the Capital Award category, which honors the best public relations tactics of the year.

PRSA and a Few Personal Items

Wireside sent me (Jonathan) and my wife to collect the octagonal, engraved crystal. Because the venue had personal ties, the event and award held added value. Let me list a few connections.

To begin with, my parents spent their first night as a married couple at the Jefferson Hotel. Decades later, we gathered at Lemaire after my mother’s mother was buried in nearby Hollywood Cemetery. Over time, all my children have joined friends and cousins there for tea under the Tiffany stained glass of the hotel’s lobby. And now Gretchen and I have a lovely evening to add to that memory bank. Thank you, PRSA and Wireside!
